Less weight – more efficiency: The new 20 tonne fifth-wheel SK-S 36.20 NoLube from SAF-HOLLAND
NoLube is short for „no lubrication“ and means „no lubricating grease“. The specially designed NoLube wear plates really do not require greasing any more. The same goes for the new NoLube locking mechanism components, which in the past had to be greased. The bearing inserts between the fifth wheel plate and the mounting brackets remain absolutely grease-free, too. There is no question about it: Driving without grease does not only make sense ecologically but, in the long run, is also more favourable economically.
On behalf of SAF-HOLLAND, the weight-optimized ductile iron parts of the new SK-S 36.20 NoLube are manufactured by Georg Fischer at Singen, Germany. That is why the new SK-S 36.20 NoLube only has an overall weight of 116 kg (total height 150 mm). It is, therefore, considerably lighter than comparable fifth-wheels for standard applications in the 20 tonnes class. There is an additional key advantage: During the development process of the new SK-S 36.20 NoLube, our engineers have put all wear parts to the test and have achieved their target of reducing the number of potential spare parts even further. This has been another decisive factor in the reduction of operating and in maintenance costs for fleets.

Special locking system with specific benefits 1. Protection against coupling errors, e.g. coupling at incorrect height. 2. Large contact area between king pin and lock for extremely long service life of both king pin and lock jaw 3. The lock components: The forged steel lock jaw is machined and tempered. The wear ring which consists of a two-component polymer design is injected into a single mould, thus providing both ideal frictional properties and strength. 4. NoLube Technologie: The lock jaw is supplied with a very tough low-friction surface coating.
